How to Win Your Fantasy Football Draft in 2026
Draft day is the single biggest lever you pull all season. Win it, and you spend the fall managing a contender instead of streaming for scraps. This is the pillar guide — read it once, then let the Draft Simulator and Draft Assistant do the reps with you.
Draft on tiers, not rankings
A ranking says “take player #14 before player #15.” A tier says “these six players are functionally interchangeable — once the group thins out, reach for the next need.” Tiers protect you from over-thinking a two-spot difference and tell you exactly when a position is about to fall off a cliff.
Understand ADP — then exploit it
Average Draft Position (ADP) tells you when a player usually comes off the board. Your edge comes from the gap between ADP and true value:
- Value picks: a player your model ranks well above their ADP. Let them fall.
- Reaches: a player going far ahead of value — fade the hype, let someone else pay.
The Cheat Sheet flags both live as the board moves.
Positional scarcity wins leagues
Not all positions are equal. Elite running backs and tight ends dry up fast; quality quarterbacks and wide receivers stay available deep into the draft. Spend early capital where the drop-off is steepest.
Simulate before it counts
The managers who win drafts have already run the draft — dozens of times. Run unlimited mock drafts against AI opponents built on real ADP and your exact league settings, then let the assistant give you win-probability deltas on every available player when it’s live.
