Offseason Storylines That Will Move Draft Boards
Between now and draft day, a predictable sequence of events will reshuffle every fantasy board. Knowing when value moves lets you stay a step ahead of your league. Here’s the offseason calendar that matters.
The combine (late February)
Athletic testing sharpens the rookie picture — who confirmed their profile, who raised questions. It’s the first big mover for dynasty rookie value.
Free agency (March)
The biggest offseason value swing. A receiver signing into a high-volume passing offense can leap rounds; a running back landing in a committee can crater. Watch landing spots, not just names.
The NFL Draft (April)
Where rookies get their opportunity. Draft capital and depth-chart fit decide which prospects will actually see the field — and fantasy value follows the opportunity, not the college highlight reel.
Post-draft dust (May)
Once rosters settle, ADP begins to firm up and the real draft prep starts: rankings, tiers, and sleepers for the coming season.
The ramp (June–July)
This is when redraft rankings crystallize and mock-draft season begins in earnest. The board you’ll draft from in August takes shape now.
Stay ahead of the moves
Each of these events reprices players. The managers who track them — and adjust their board as news breaks — draft value the crowd hasn’t caught up to yet.
