Coaching Changes That Shift Fantasy Value in 2026

Every offseason, a wave of new head coaches and coordinators reshuffle NFL offenses — and with them, fantasy value. The managers who read these changes early buy in before ADP catches up. Here’s the framework.

Scheme sets the ceiling

A player’s fantasy ceiling is capped by the offense he plays in. A pass-heavy system lifts receivers and pass-catching backs; a run-first, ground-and-pound scheme does the opposite. When a new coordinator arrives, ask first: does this offense throw or run?

Follow the coordinator, not just the head coach

Offensive coordinators often matter more for fantasy than head coaches. A coordinator with a track record of feeding a bell-cow back, or of concentrating targets in one receiver, tells you how the touches will flow.

Watch for pace and volume

Some coaches play fast and run more total plays — more plays means more fantasy opportunities for everyone. Tempo is an underrated driver of scoring.

Don’t overreact to talk

Coachspeak in January (“we’ll spread it around”) rarely survives contact with a real depth chart. Weight scheme and personnel over press-conference optimism, and hold your read loosely until the roster settles.
